Your friend groups do not define you. How much money you have does not define you. A man or woman does not define you. Your mistakes do not define you. Your past does not define you. Where you grew up does not define you. Your weight does not define you. Your job does not define you. Your accomplishments do not define you. How you look does not define you. Social media does not define you. Society does not define you.
JESUS CHRIST DEFINES YOU! None of those other things in this world matter! Jesus is the only one who has the power to define us. His word has living proof of that!
Take Psalm 139:13-14 for example. It says, “13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. 14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” We are told that we are FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY made. I will admit that sometimes I even struggle with believing that something other than God defines me. We all do. A lot of times it’s hard to believe that God defines us when Satan’s lies seem to speak louder. And that’s Satan’s goal: trying to drown out what God’s word clearly says.
Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” We are Christ’s work of art. He created all of us with special and different talents, abilities, and gifts. When we use any of what God has given us, we should always give Him back the glory. I mean, why shouldn’t we? He’s given to us so we can give back to Him!
Romans 12:6-8
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
We are all apart of one body: the body of Christ. In Romans 12:4-5 it says, “4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.” You have a role to fill in the body of Christ. And, your role is not the same as everybody else’s. God made us each very unique and different. As a believer, it is your duty to fill the role and use your gift or ability to glorify God. The Lord made each one of us with a purpose. We have to show up for Christ. God and other Christians are depending on us. Everyone with a God-given ability should ask the Lord to show them how He wants them to use it. If you feel like you don’t know what your gift, talent, or ability is, ask the Lord to reveal it to you.
We are all united in the body of Christ. We can all use our God-given gifts together to form one beautiful picture! Don’t be afraid to use what God has given to you! Let your light shine ♡.
