Standing strong is one of (if not) the hardest things in the world. This world throws obstacles at
us left and right, and pressures us to do so many things. Our choice, though, is whether to stand
strong in the Lord or give in to sin. Which are you going to choose? It may seem easier to give
into the wrong than to choose the harder right. In the long run though, we must choose to do
what is right regardless of how we feel. The Lord promises to reward us for our work in standing
strong. An example of this promise is found in a verse of God's message to King Asa in 2 Chronicles.
The Lord told Asa (through Azariah):
"Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded."
(2 Chronicles 15:7 KJV)
God told Asa to be strong and not to have weak hands, and his work would be rewarded. If we
stay strong in our Lord under any kind of pressure (including peer pressure because that's a big
one these days), He will reward our work and we will be an example of strength to others. We
can stand strong together as Christians, and we will receive strength from the Lord if we ask him
for it. Christians need to stand together, encourage each other, and keep each other accountable.
We need each other more than ever nowadays.
If we read and study our Bibles, pray and talk to our Lord, and follow the life of Christ, we will
become stronger in our faith. With a strengthened faith we will then be able to stand strong in
tough situations, and the Holy Spirit will guide us in doing right if we listen to it. We have a
conscience that tells us between the right and the wrong. As a Christian we will be chastened by
the Lord and feel convicted to follow what He wants. Nobody is perfect, and nobody ever will be;
only Jesus Himself was sinless. We can, though, try our very best to live holy lives and stand
strong because God will be there right beside us every step of the way.
Leviticus 19:2 KJV
"Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for
I the Lord your God am holy."
Joshua 1:9 KJV
"Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou
dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
